Here is another long overdue project that I've been wanting to do a couple of years ago. Finally, I was able to complete the task and want to share the labels that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo machine. For those of you who are interested, you will get the cutting file with the names of the Distress Ink by Tim Holtz, ready to be cut using a sticker paper. I also created small circles for the color stain to be glued right next to the name of the color so you can easily spot the color as these ink pads are stored stacked on top of each other.
I created the labels in Silhouette Studio (Print & Cut) and cut them with my Silhouette Cameo using glossy sticker paper. I used matte sticker paper for the cut circles for dabbing the color stain so the ink will adhere and dry instantly. Please note that the sticker paper I used were purchased locally and are not USA brands. Instructions for creating the color stain explained in the captions of the photos.
I can share the file for the labels with my blog followers. Just post a comment below with your e-mail address so I can send you the file.
Happy crafting!

I used glossy sticker paper for the color name label
and matte sticker paper for color stain
|
Circles for the color stain (it's hard to see on the photo) |
A close up view of the cut circles for the color stain |
I cut the rows of cut circles into strips to avoid messing with the
circles above and below when applying the stain
|
I used my pinky finger to dab some ink onto the cut circle |
I rolled my inked pinky finger from right to left to cover the whole cut circle with the ink. I used baby wipes (refreshed with alcohol) to wipe the ink off my finger, ready for the next ink color. |
Simply lift the cut circle and stick it on the label of the ink pad |
Love! Love! Love! Love! Love! |
Now I can rearrange the pads according to the color stain order |
I store my ink pads in a see-through plastic bin |
This is the Tim Holtz Distress Ink color chart that you can print for reference |
this is awesome i would love the file

Hi Gayle - this is a really neat project. I love to see things all organised and labelled.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I have stickers on my pads that I made using the download list from the Ranger web site - I didn't have to do anything other than print it out. Kudos to you for making something different though. It's a project I may redo sometime in the future - but yours looks far better.

Thanks, Paula.
DeleteMy friends often tease me as having OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)in wanting to keep everything in order and structured :). I just believe that life is so much better when everything is organized :).
Cheers,
Gayle
Following your blog and Pinterest. This is an awesome project and very time consuming for you. I would really like to take advantage of all the time you invested and your generosity in offering to share the file. I look forward to labeling my pads also. Thanks so much for your willingness to share!

Hi Genelle,
DeleteThe process was, indeed, very tedious but I was very happy with the outcome. I was rummaging through tons of ink pads every time I needed to use them until it got to the point of frustration. It really pays being organized :). I'm more than happy to share the process with my fellow crafters. Another reason to smile :).
Enjoy the file.
Happy crafting,
Gayle
Great project...thanks for all the time and energy you put into this, and thanks for being willing to share.
